New York, NY (September 22, 2026) – Today, producers Jamie Lloyd and Michael Harrison announced additional casting for Lloyd’s new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterwork Evita. Joining Olivier Award^® winner, London Standard Theatre Award^® winner, and Golden Globe Award^® winnerRachel Zegler as ‘Eva Perón’ will be her critically lauded co-stars from the London production, Olivier Award nominee Diego Rodriguez as ‘Che’ and James Olivas, who will be making his Broadway debut as ‘Juan Perón.’ 

Bella Brown, who received a WhatsOnStage Award nomination for her portrayal of ‘The Mistress’ and was the alternate ‘Eva Perón’ at The Palladium in London will transfer to Broadway with the production. 

The production will also feature Ángel Lozada as ‘Agustín Magaldi.’ 

The ensemble will feature Giuseppe Bausilio, Mely Berdion, Brandon Borkowsky, Ayla Ciccone-Burton,Grace Conrad, Christian Jesús Galvis, Tommy Gedrich, Sydney Jones, Natasha Leaver, Maggie Likcani, Mireia Mambo, Sebastian Martinez, Justice Moore, Pepe Muñoz, Julio Rey, Ken San Jose, Victor Carrillo Tracey, Damani Van Rensalier, and J’Kobe Wallace. Swings for the production are Alexis Hasbrouck, AK Naderer, Regine Sophia, Francisco Thurston, Bryce Valle, and Michael Bryan Wang. 

The full creative team for Evita on Broadway and final casting for the role of ‘The Child’ will be announced at a later date. 

Evita, will play Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway) with preview performances beginning Saturday evening, February 27, 2027 for a Thursday, March 25, 2027 opening night. 

Evita made international headlines last summer when it played a sold-out engagement at the London Palladium. It was heralded by critics with a staggering number of five-star reviews and was described by The Telegraph as “a total triumph,” The Standard said, “Rachel Zegler is an absolute smash in Jamie Lloyd’s thrilling revival” and The Daily Express called Evita, “The event of the year. Do not miss it.”

Evita received two Olivier Awards including Best Actress in a Musical for Zegler. The production was also awarded Best Musical and Best Musical Performance for Zegler at the London Standard Theatre Awards, along with receiving five WhatsOnStage Awards including Best Musical Revival and Best Performer in a Musical for Zegler. 

Evita will play the Winter Garden immediately following Lloyd’s critically acclaimed production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing which will play a strictly limited 10-week engagement at the same legendary venue starting performances Saturday, October 31. 

Fuelled by unrelenting ambition and passion, Eva Perón (Zegler) rose from poverty to become the most powerful woman in Latin America. A beacon of hope to some and a threat to others, her star shone brightly as she captured the nation’s heart and divided its soul. Evita features an iconic score including “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” “Oh What A Circus,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall,” and the Oscar-winning “You Must Love Me.”

BIOGRAPHIES

Rachel Zegler she/her (Eva Perón) is a dynamic actress and singer who has already established herself as a trailblazer of her generation. At only 17 years old, Rachel earned the role of ‘María Vasquez’ for Steven Spielberg’s new adaptation of West Side Story out of 30,000 auditions. The film captured Rachel’s motion picture debut and earned her an NBR Award for Best Actress along with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.

On stage, Rachel has solidified her place as a powerhouse with her Olivier Award-winning turn as ‘Eva Perón’ in Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Evita at The London Palladium. Her final performance broke the record for the longest standing ovation in The Palladium’s history, at nine minutes long.

Before that, Rachel made her Broadway debut in Sam Gold’s Romeo + Juliet, starring opposite Kit Connor with music by Jack Antonoff. The modern-day, Gen-Z-inflected adaptation broke ticket sale records, generating $3.1 million in under 24 hours, the highest single on-sale date for a play in Shubert history, and by the end of its run, had recorded the youngest ticket-buying audience in Broadway history.

On the big screen, she has starred as ‘Snow White’ in Disney’s live-action remake, making her one of the first Latina actresses to lead a live-action Disney film. Rachel received critical praise for her performance, and the film reached #1 on Disney+. Before that, she led The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as ‘Lucy Gray Baird’ alongside Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, and Hunter Schafer, which opened at #1 at the box office worldwide. Her performance earned her the Best Action Movie Star Award at the People’s Choice Awards. She has also been seen in A24’s disaster comedy Y2K, the superhero film Shazam! Fury of the Gods opposite Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu and lent her voice to Netflix’s animated feature Spellbound opposite Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem.

Rachel’s upcoming films include She Gets It From Me opposite Marissa Tomei and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Octet with an incredible ensemble including Amanda Seyfried, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Tramell Tillman. It was also just announced that she will star in Last Dance directed by visionary filmmaker Karim Aïnouz opposite Ben Platt, who will also contribute original music. The film is written by Emily Ziff Griffin, based on her 2021 autobiographicalNew Yorker article.
