Gorgeous Greek Gags
“Me and Charlotte have introduced property into our lovemaking – the safe word is Mortgage”
George the Greek in the Sheets
There are some comics who are legends, or think they are, in this case George Zacharopoulos is the real deal. This is the seventh year of his appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe. Judging by the crowd reaction when he walked on stage, his reputation has upgraded. He bills himself as 2024 Greek Comedian of the Year. I don’t know who the runner up was but it doesn’t matter.
He talks for an hour about his life, sex, death and superfoam mattress with 11 layers of foam, or was it 14? One of his best stories, which I hope was true, was when he and his friend climbed, at night, into the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne not realising it was the Governor General’s Residence. Australian Federal Police, guns and handcuffs were all involved.
To his great credit his show is free unless you want to reserve a seat. The venue Legends was packed out and I like everybody else thoroughly enjoyed the show. To be fair some of it was of an adult nature but not offensive.
I shall book for next year. The Editor has been bingeing on his delightfully oddball humour on You tube. Theatrevibe has pleasure in awarding Five Fringe Festival Stars (FFFS) to Greek in the Sheets for side splitting laughter!
