Fringe favourites Earn Five Stars
“This wine tastes like an older relative at the dinner table has just said something a little bit racist”

This show is pure genius! Take a pair of quick witted highly skilled Australian improvisation comedians and give your audience five small glasses of wine and title it with a good pun and you have a Fringe success. It is the only Fringe show we made the time to see again this year.
The wine is ok, perhaps not as orgasmic as I remember a glass of Priorat which produced a longing and breathy ooh at a previous wine tasting, but we are here for the brilliantly zinging repartee between Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh. They have on hand in Edinburgh, a Wine connoisseur, Murray Ainslie who owns the much hyped wine bar and small plates restaurant called The Black Grape on the Cannongate to give us some interesting facts about the wines.
They may identify a pretentious wine buff to mercilessly rib a member of the audience but it is all good natured fun. The night I saw, they identified someone who had travelled First Class from Africa and returned to the subject of a degree in social anthropology, a few rib tickling times. We reel in amazement at how quickly they find the whimsical riposte.
Oh how I’d like to book these guys for a dinner party or a wedding. They divulged that they had been recruited to do a few Hen Dos and the crowd were taken with the push button bullshit bell which is designed to curtail any excess of conversation. The timing of these “ding dings” brings much laughter and of course throws the speaker. The women requested to purchase a red bullshit bell for the actual wedding and now you can purchase these bells after the In Pour Taste Show which turn boredom into amusement and relief.
HERE is Malcolm Beckett’s review of In Pour Taste’s sell out show from 2024.
After Edinburgh they are touring the UK so you can catch this five star show from Theatrevibe, the site that doesn’t do stars, in and away from Auld Reekie to see this charming pair.
