Forty touring companies return to the essence of theatre in storytelling around the fire countrywide. In October and November, fires will light up across the UK with storytellers and audiences sharing in one of the original forms of theatre. The fires will signal the vibrancy of touring theatre, and the threat our industry continues to face.
English Touring Theatre has paired up with The Theatre Royal at Stratford East to bring us a thrilling production of Equus which is as brilliantly acted as it is choreographed. I saw the 1973 production of Equus at the National Theatre and remembered the horses played by people with horse heads as being ground breaking in terms of movement.
When the audience wants to stay at the end and talk about how wonderful this production is, you know that something very special is being seen here at Wilton's Music Hall. First timers and the experienced Othello audience alike, were amazed at the clarity of Richard Twyman's production for Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Bristol and English Touring Theatre.
