REVIEW: The Death of a Black Man, Hampstead Theatre (2021)

Its very title would have conjured up then, as it does now, the unnecessary death of a man in custody or at the hands of the police.  Although in the play there is the death of Shakie (Nickcolia King-N'da)'s father, a jazz musician in Manchester, the title The Death of a Black Man may be a metaphor.

REVIEW: Shaw Shorts at the Orange Tree (2021) How He Lied to her Husband and Overruled

Both plays were written pre-world war between 1904 and 1912 and are firmly of the Edwardian era but their theme would have been quite shocking then. I could have felt we were watching a Shavian Married At First Sight Australia such was the modernity of the morality!
