REVIEW: Frozen, the West End Musical, Theatre Royal Drury Lane (2021). Closing 8th September 2024

How refreshing to have a Disney film that doesn't end with a marriage! There is much to entertain and please adults in this show but your six year olds may need the stamina for a two and a half hour spectacle with brilliant singing and performances.  However many will be pleased that the scary Marshmallow monster does not figure in the UK musical.  Casting Samantha Barks and Stephanie McKeon with their acting ability and contrasting singing voices is a master stroke.

REVIEW: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, Gillian Lynne Theatre (2021) CLOSING 12th JUNE 2022

Carrie Hope Fletcher is a real asset to this show, she sings like a dream and has a super personality with lashings of humour which the other women all seem to lack. I saw Ivano Turco's understudy Michael Hamway as Sebastian who is operatically trained and his singing is gorgeous but his dance moves are decidedly odd.

REVIEW: Jersey Boys, Trafalgar Theatre (2021)

Although Jersey Boys is a musical made up of a back catalogue, and what a back catalogue it is, it has a good content of interesting biographical detail about these remarkable singers which drives the show.Tommy De Vito (Benjamin Yates) is the driving force getting the group together and recruiting the amazing Frankie Castelluccio (Ben Joyce) with his incredible falsetto voice. He changed his name to Frankie Valley and later to the more Italian ending Valli after a Texan hillbilly singer, Jean Valli.
