REVIEW: Jersey Boys, Trafalgar Theatre (2021)

Although Jersey Boys is a musical made up of a back catalogue, and what a back catalogue it is, it has a good content of interesting biographical detail about these remarkable singers which drives the show.Tommy De Vito (Benjamin Yates) is the driving force getting the group together and recruiting the amazing Frankie Castelluccio (Ben Joyce) with his incredible falsetto voice. He changed his name to Frankie Valley and later to the more Italian ending Valli after a Texan hillbilly singer, Jean Valli.

REVIEW: Paradise, Olivier National Theatre (2021)

At the death of Heracles, his friend Philoctetes was the only one to come forward to light the funeral pyre.  In return Philoctetes was given Heracles magical bow and arrows.  In the middle of the Trojan wars which went on for decades, Philoctetes was bitten by a snake and his leg turned rancid.   The smell was so dreadful and noxious to the other sailors and soldiers that Odysseus abandoned Philoctetes on the island of Lemnos and set sail without him.  Ten years later Odysseus returns and this is where Kae Tempest's play begins.

REVIEW: The Windsors Endgame, Prince of Wales Theatre (2021)

This comedy has King Charles (Harry Enfield) and Queen Camilla (Tracy-Ann Oberman) the dominatrix in charge.  Camilla has a cigarette on the go and issues bitchy remarks.  Kate (Kara Tointon) gets excited about the new Boden catalogue, as Camilla castigates Kate for shopping at high street stores.  Muggin (Crystal Condie) and Harry (Tom Durant-Pritchard) practise their yoga poses and meditate in California and Harry declares his love for Gladys his rescued battery chicken.
